In 2002, Korolite Engineered Panel Structures Ltd. (KEPS) became part of the Mansonville Group, specializing in the manufacturing of insulated steel panels referred to as K-Lock Panels.
A K-Lock Panel is an insulated sandwich panel, consisting of 26 gauge prepainted metal outer skin, bonded to an insulation board (referred to as the core). The bonding adhesive is specially manufactured for the panel application. K-Lock Panels are attractive, easy to install and highly versatile.
The steel insulated panels are used for cold storage, commercial or residential applications and range in size from 48" wide x 2" thick (121.92cm x 5.08cm) x lengths specified by our customers.
K-LOCK INSULATED PANELS ARE THIRD PARTY CERTIFIED. ALL MANUFACTURING OF OUR PRODUCTS MEETS OR EXCEEDS THE APPLICABLE REQUIREMENTS OF WARNOCK HERSEY (INTERTEK)
To help prevent air leakage, all K-Lock panels have our unique finger join.
This finger join is also used to join EPS sheeting together inside the panel. Using the finger join helps to eliminate the small gaps that can appear when only a butt end is used. By eliminating the small gaps, the panels do not show shadow lines that would appear on panels that have been produced using the butt end.
The core of the panel has been cut with a ship lap design. A hidden metal fastener and clip are used to fasten the panel to the supporting steel structure.
The standard insulating core for the K-lock panels is expanded polystyrene(EPS)
EPS is an ideal insulation for the K-Lock panel. It does not contain any CFC’s or HCFC’s and will not lose it’s insulation R value over years. Using EPS as the core insulation, contributes to the “green” building ideal.
Rockwool insulation means fire protection. It is made of stone and therefore cannot burn. Rockwool stone wool resists temperatures higher than 1000°C.
Korolite Engineered Panel Structures Ltd. provides the Fire-Lock Panel, made with Rockwool, which offers protection up to 120 minutes in a fire. It can act as a fire barrier which checks the spread of the fire and provides valuable extra minutes to save people, property and reduce environmental damage.
Applications for use:
All interior panels, unless otherwise requested are made with CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) approved prepainted smooth steel on both sides of the K-Lock panel. All panels meet the USDA requirements under part 16 (Sanitation).
For exterior applications, we offer a stucco appearance finish on the steel on the one side, and the smooth steel on the other for interior. This stucco appearance comes in a soft beige. When using this style of panel, there is no profile applied to the stucco side.
K-Lock panels are also used for sun rooms. For this application, we produce the panel with aluminum (prepainted and embossed) instead of steel, bonded to EPS. No profile is used on these panels.
Korolite Engineered Panel Structures Ltd provides many types of doors for coolers, freezers, and production area applications, standard man doors, pallet doors, and sliding doors. Options are available for stainless steel trim and aluminum kick plates.
Freezer doors are equipped with 120 volt CSA approved heater wire, temperature guage and ventilator port.
FRP applied to steel panel surfaces provides protection for those customers that require special wash down environments, such as food processing areas. Based on the customer requirements, the FRP board can be applied to the whole length of the panel or select areas.
The FRP is applied to the K-Lock Panel at the job site, after installation of the panel to the building.
